Giving back runs in the veins of the talented stars of Moja LOVE and what better time to do what they love than this Mandela Day? This International Day is set aside to honour the life and contribution made by Nelson Mandela to South African history. It was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009 and is celebrated on 18 July each year, on his birthday. Moja LOVE (157) TV hosts visited the Joseph Garard Home For Older Persons in Alexandra township to lend a helping hand. The stars spent the morning singing, dancing, and treating the elderly and generously donated warm winter blankets and food parcels. Here is a glimpse of what happened:
GIVING BACK
Speaking to ZiMoja, the talent feels fulfilled when they share however little they have. Bishop Israel Makamu, host of Rea Tsotella says, "Giving back is in our blood and who we are. We don't need to only do it on big days like Mandela Day but we need to continue the spirit of giving." Xolani Khumalo of Sizok'thola says he is all about seeing a positive difference in society. "As people, we need to take care of the elderly, women, and children and we will have a better society. I am all about giving back to the communities that raised us." Kamo Bombe explains how "spending the day opened her up to wanting to do more. We go by every day and forget some people need us. Spending 67 minutes of one day makes a big difference in one's life."
