Singer Rethabile Khumalo, the daughter of veteran pop singer, Winnie Khumal,o has been in hospital for almost a week and underwent two medical operations.

Winnie is devastated after her daughter fell ill and had to be rushed to hospital after she was allegedly poisoned by a friend. "She was okay, one of her jealous friends tried to kill her by poisoning her. She has been in hospital and has had two surgeries." Winnie said that this morning, Rethabile will undergo a third surgery to try to save her life. "This for me is the hardest thing I've had to deal with. I always want to protect my children. I feel helpless when something like this happens." Rethabile recently gave birth to her baby boy, Culo, and Winnie wants her to fight for her child's sake. "She needs to pull through."

This is not the first time Rethabile has found herself in a hospital bed. In 2022 she was involved in a car accident after jumping in front of a speeding vehicle on the highway. Winnie was informed by those on the scene that an ambulance had been called for her daughter. "I didn't know what to do. The phone calls wouldn't stop, everyone wanted to be the one breaking the news to me." Winnie quickly rushed to the scene and Rethabile was taken to the hospital. "There are many things that led to her doing what she did, but I don't blame myself or anyone. But I did not, for one minute think that I failed her in any way. I have always supported my daughter in everything she does and I have been a friend to her," she said at the time.
